Troop 919 REMINDER: Christmas Package Delivery is TODAY at 2 PM
REMINDER
CHRISTMAS PACKAGE D< b>ELIVERY TODAY!
Troop 919 will be meeting at the Vienna Fire Dept. at 2 p.m. this afternoon to deliver Christmas Packages to Forsyth County Foster Families.
The Vienna Fire Station is on Yadkinville Road near our Scout Hut and it's where Tim Lasley is the Fire Chief.
Families are invited and encouraged to help out with this holiday event. We have about 50 families to deliver packages to and will need lots of adult drivers!

Troop 919 CHRISTMAS PACKAGE DELIVERY UPDATE
CHRISTMAS PACKA b>GE DELIVERY UPDATE
DELIVERY POSTPONED TO SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 2 P.M.
As a result of today’s winter weather, the Foster Families Christmas Package delivery has been postponed until Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
We will meet at the Vienna Fire Station at 2 p.m. on SUNDAY to receive the family assignments and their gifts and head out from there. The Vienna Fire Station is on Yadkinville Road near our Scout Hut and it's where Tim Lasley is the Fire Chief.
Hopefully, we will not have too many conflicts on Sunday afternoon and the weather will cooperate so our Troop can complete this good turn.
A few adult leaders are also need on Saturday afternoon to help unload the gifts from our Scout trailer and stage them for Sunday’s deliveries. Please contact Stan Gordon if you can help with task.

Troop 919 Notes 12-14-09
Troop Christmas Party – Don’t forget our annual Troop Christmas Party and Gift Exchange on Tuesday (Dec 15) at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Brookstown Methodist Church.
Scouts wishing to participate in the gift exchange must bring a wrapped Scouting or camping related gift. If you don’t bring a gift, you will not be participating in the gift exchange. The costs of the gifts should be kept to around $10.
Our Popcorn Awards will also be distributed at the party.
Adult leaders will also be participating in a gift exchange among the adults in the Troop.
And speaking of the party, please remember to bring plenty of snacks and drinks!
Christmas Family – We are still in need of gifts for the grandmother for the family our Troop is adopting for Christmas.
Please bring your gifts to Tuesday night’s meeting. If you can not make it on Tuesday, please bring your gifts with you on Saturday morning.
Christmas Package Delivery – The Christmas package delivery is this Saturday (Dec. 19). Please plan to meet at the Scout Hut at 9 a.m. to pick-up the gifts you will be delivering.
Families are invited to participate with Scouts in the Christmas package delivery on Saturday and WE WILL NEED DRIVERS! We usually have between 15-20 families to deliver packages to.
Enjoy Your Vacation – We will not have a Troop meeting on December 22 or 29. Enjoy your Holidays.
Troop PLC and Committee Meeting – The Troop Patrol Leaders Conference will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 17 at the Scout Hut.
This PLC is our annual planning meeting, so make sure your Patrol is well represented at this meeting.
The Troop Committee meeting follows at 7 p.m.
Brent Patterson Returns – Troop 919 EagleBrent Patterson will be returning to Winston-Salem from his tour of duty in Iraq on Tuesday evening. If you would like to meet Brent at the airport to welcome him home, contact Fred Patterson at the Scout Office (760-2900) for the details.
Cold Weather Camping Intro – Thanks to the hearty groups of Scouts and adults who attended this weekend’s Intro to Cold Weather Camping at Pilot Mountain. It was a great weekend and we’re now ready for Snow Camping.
Snow Camping Trip – Our annual Snow Camping trip will over the weekend of January 16-18, 2010 and sign-ups will begin at Tuesday’s night Troop meeting/Christmas Party. We depart on Saturday and return on Monday for this trip.

Troop 919 Eagle Project Update
Danner W. wanted to send this update on his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project:
Scouts,
My final project day will be this Saturday, December 12th, at St. John's Lutheran Church. It will begin at 3:30 and end somewhere around 5:30. We will be having ribs after the project is finished so stay around for awhile. If the weather is bad, the project will be canceled. Troop 919 Notes 12-9-09
Cold Weather Camping Trip – We will be meeting at the Scout hut at 9 a.m. for this weekend’s Cold Weather Camping Trip.
We will be camping at the Pilot Mountain group site. Remember your 10 essentials and plan to layer your clothing. Don’t forget your rain gear!
Our return time on Sunday: We should be back at the Scout hut by noon and will call with a more definite time when we are on the way.

Cierra, age 14, is taken care of
Shaquanna, age 11, we are doing pretty good on her wish list. Commitments have been made to purchase Jeans/pants, shirt/sweater, socks, jewelry, purse, and a gift card.
Qwezniek, age 8, we have a few items but are still needing some clothing. Commitments so far are for socks, remote control car, match box cars and a case, and a book light.
Christopher, age 2, so far we have blocks, a wooden puzzle, and the prepend doctor set.
We are in need of items for the grandparents; for Crystal we have the paper products and for James a gift card to Lowes Hardware.

Christmas Family – We have received the following donations for the family our Troop is adopting this Christmas.
Cierra: Clothing, Mp3 player, costume jewelry, purse, book
Shaquanna: Mp3 player
Qwezniek: Mp3 player
Christophe: Prepend doctor set, 1 wooden puzzle, set of blocks
There are still many items remaining that need to be purchased for this family. Please let us know at Tuesday’s Troop meeting which items your family will be donating. A copy of the family’s wish list is attached to this week’s e-mail.
Please call [(336) 306-0289] or e-mail Stan [sgordon@wfubmc.edu] with the items you will be purchasing. All gifts must be wrapped and brought to the Scout hut by Tuesday, December 15.
In addition to adopting a family, our Troop will be delivering gifts to families. This year’s deliveries will be the morning of Saturday, December 19, so please mark your calendar.
December Intro to Cold Weather Camping Trip – This trip is our traditional “Intro to Cold Weather Camping” trip and if you think you might like to go snow camping in January, then this weekend’s trip is a requirement. We will be camping at the group site at Pilot Mountain on December 12-13. The following are signed up for this trip:
Scouts: Bryce W., Raymond F., Andy N., Alexander Z., Thomas L., Ben E., Will H., Daniel P., Chris W., Ian B., Devln B., Paul L., Tanner P., Lyle G.
Adults: Mac McCormick, Tim Lasley, Stan Gordon, Mike Parrish, Jay Wilhelmi and Steve Tucker
Menu planning for the trip will be at Tuesday's Troop meeting. If you are going on the trip you need to attend Tuesday’s meeting.
Christmas Trees – The OA still has a nice selection of Christmas Trees available at their tree lot at the Scout Office.
Tree prices have been reduced: You may pick any tree on the lot for just $25!
The lot will be staffed this weekend on Saturday (9 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. – 6 p.m.) or you may stop by during the week, select your tree and pay inside the Scout Office.

Troop 919 - Danner's Eagle Scout Project
Danner W. asked for the following message to be sent to the Troop regarding his Eagle Scout Project. Yesterday's weather caused postponment of the workday to this afternoon (Sunday 12/6)
Mr. Tucker please forward this to the troop ASAP.
Scouts,
Due to the weather, the project will not be taking place today(Saturday). We will be starting it tomorrow (Sunday) at 1:30 and finishing it up next weekend on Saturday. Please bring your tools and call if you have any questions. 945-2203

Troop 919 Christmas Family
Stan Gordon has volunteered to coordinate the Christmas gifts for our Troop’s Foster Family this year. Our contributions as part of the Relatives as Foster Parents program, which is managed through the Forsyth County Department of Social Services Department. This will be our Troop’s third year helping with the program.
Our family’s wish list is attached to the this e-mail.
Please call [(336) 306-0289] or e-mail Stan [sgordon@wfubmc.edu] with the items you will be purchasing. All gifts must be wrapped and brought to the Scout hut by Tuesday, December 15.
