No Troop Meeting This Week

Troop 919 will not be holding a weekly meeting this week. Enjoy your spring vacation and break from school.

We will resume our weekly Troop meetings on April 7 as we begin to prepare for our Virginia Creeper Trail bicycling camping trip.

Troop Merit Badge College – A reminder that we will be hosting a Troop Merit Badge College on Saturday, April 11. Sign-ups will be held at the April 7 Troop meeting.

We will try to get a message out later this week with the final Merit Badges being offered.

OA One Day of Service – A reminder to our Troop’s OA members that Elauwit Chapter is holding a One Day of Service on Saturday (April 4). The Chapter will be working on the Mountain to Sea Trail near Boone. You should have received a postcard announcing this project.

The plans are to meet at the Scout Office on Silas Creek Parkway at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday for the drive to the worksite. We will be returning around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. that evening.

If you can participate in this project, please give Andrew T. a call. He will be coordinating our group with the Friends of the Mountain to Sea Trail and has to provide a count in advance.

OA Conclave – If you still want to attend the OA Section Conclave (April 17-19) at Camp Tuscarora and have not signed up, it’s not too late (but it’s getting close). You can go by the Scout Office and complete the registration form and pay the $40 fee this week.

Let’s all work to have a great showing from Troop 919 at this year’s Conclave, support the guys from our Troop who will be competing in the Indian Affairs events and have some FUN in eastern North Carolina.

Enjoy Your Snow Day!

And since you'll be going crazy from being couped up in the house all day, plan to come to Scouts on Tuesday night.

The roads should be clear enough for everyone to make it to the Scout Hut for our Troop meeting, so we are planning to continue with our planned Scout meeting on Tuesday.

We'll let you know if something changes before Tuesday night.

Friends of Scouting - Troop 919 continues to come through for the Old Hickory Council's Friends and Family of Scouting program.

Thanks to all in our Troop who helped make our Troop's FOS campaign such a huge success in 2009. Troop 919 has pledged more than $5,000 to the FOS campaign this year.

If you were unable to attend last week's Court of Honor and would like to make a FOS pledge, please see your Scoutmaster and he'll hook you up with a pledge card.

Re-Chartering

Summer Camp
- It's also time to register for summer camp at Raven Knob. We have to submit an initial registration to Raven Knob by March 10 and you can make your summer camp reservation Tuesday.

Court of Honor - We will be holding our February Court of Honor on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Brookstown United Methodist Church.

We will have a special Friends and Family of Scouting presentation at Tuesday's Court of Honor and will appreciate our Troop's family attendance at this program.

At the conclusion of the presenation, each Scouting family will be given the opportunity to support Scouting with their personal financial contribution. The financial support that Old Hickory Council receives each year through the Friends and Family of Scouting pledges help keep our local Scouting fees at a modest rate so that all youth can enjoy the experience the Scouting program offers.

When compared with the cost of some of the other programs our youth are involved in today, Scouting is an excellent bargin.

Please ask your family to make a special effort to attend Tuesday's program.

All Scout families are asked to bring drinks and snacks for the fellowship time following Tuesday's Court of Honor.

Re-Chartering - If you have not paid your 2009 fee, please bring your money to Tuesday's Court of Honor. Mr. Hough or Mr. Wilhelmi will be there and ready to accept your payment. We will be preparing our re-charter with the council this week and appreciate all Scouts and leaders taking care of this important task promptly.
