No Troop meeting on Tuesday, April 1

This is not an April Fool's Joke!  Enjoy your holiday.
We will continue our regualr Troop meetings on April 8 with menu planning for our Orienteering camping trip at Camp Raven Knob.

Eagle Project Workdays

Scouts Needed for Davis Cup -  If your plans do not include the Orienteeting camping trip, here is an opportunity to be part of an exciting,  premier professional sporting event here in Winston-Salem: The USA v. France Davis Cup Tennis Match April 11-13.

The Boy Scouts have been asked to present the colors of the 50 nations that compete in the Davis Cup as part of the opening ceremonies on Saturday morning April 12th. Team USA (Andy Roddick, James Blake and the Bryan brothers) will take on the Team France (Tsonga and Gasquet) in the Davis Cup Quarter Finals at a sold out Joel Coliseum. For the first time in the history of the Davis Cup, a city (our city of Winston-Salem) is hosting matches two years in a row. The Boy Scouts represented themselves and Winston-Salem very well last year, and we hope to put together an even better presentation this year!

This project calls for 50 Scouts to participate and there is also the need for 5 adult leaders. Scouts will need to dress in full Class A uniform. The adults, not scouts, will have a "walk through" on Thursday evening April 10th. While a scout is always Helpful and never expects to benefit from a good turn, participating scouts and adults will be treated to terrific eats and drinks after the ceremony.

Our very own Doc Washburn is coordinating this event. If you would like to help out with this event, contact Doc at
336-945-2203, or email him at wssaw1959@yahoo.com Tuesday, April 8.

Parent's Orientation - We will hold our Troop 919 Parent's Orientation for new Scout families on Tuesday, April 8 at the Scout Hut.  Please help pass the word to our new families.

Orienteering Camping Trip - We will meet the Scout Hut at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11 for the Orienteering camping trip.  We should return just after lunch on Sunday.

Scouts should have eaten dinner when they arrive at the Scout Hut on Friday.

Medical Forms - Each Scout's medical form has to be reviewed each year. In some cases it's a quick review to ensure all of the information is correct and a parent's initials and date. In other cases the Scout will need to have a new form completed, which includes a visit to the doctor. The health and safety polices of the BSA require a doctor's physical at least every 3 years for Scouts and more frequently for adults.

The Scouts' medical forms will be available for review at Tuesday's Court of Honor.

PLC and Committe Meeting Change

A Scout is Reverent

In respect for the Holy Week services, we will conduct Scout Board of Reviews at our Tuesday Scout meeting and postpone the PLC and committee meeting until the next week, Thursday, March 27.

If you had planned for your Board of Review on Thursday and can not attend the Tuesday Scout meeting, please call our Troop Committe Chairman, Jim Pierson, and we will make some other arrangement that fits everyone's schedule to ensure your Board of Review is conducted and you receive your hard earned rank advancement at next Tuesday's (March 25) Court of Honor.

Wilderness Survival Campout News (Friday, March 7, 2008)

Mac is already at Camp Raven Knob and reports that the weather there is improving quickly...read that the rain is passing through and it's clearing up!

You are a Boy Scout, so don't let the possibility of a little bit rain alter your plans for a very exciting camping trip!

We are meeting at the Scout Hut at 5 p.m. today. Make sure you eat before coming to the Scout Hut.

It's also important that you bring your rain gear, just in case of another shower. You also need to make sure you have a change of clothes. It's been "dripping off the trees" at camp and we'll be walking through the woods to get to our Wilderness Survival area.

It's going to be a fun weekend!
