District Note: Nominations / Round Tables (Wednesday, September 3, 2008)

TO PIEDMONT DISTRICT SCOUTERS:

We are in the process of receiving nominations for members at large for Piedmont District.  
 
A member a large is a voting member of the district committee.  They are also individuals who can be called upon to serve on one of the various subcommittees of district operations.  
 
These subcommittees include; the Program Committee (plan and take part in camporees, pinewood derbies, day camps and other events through the district), Finance Committee (coordinates the popcorn sale and FOS campaign), the Membership Committee (coordinates the Cub Scout Fall Recruitment through our schools, and other membership related events during the year).  The Training Committee helps to train our adult volunteers in New Leaders Essentials and Leader Specific Training.  Another important group of volunteers includes our Commissioner staff.  Our commissioners are friends to our packs, troops, crews and ships.  They offer support and guidance and keep units apprised of things going on at the district and council levels.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Our first District Round Table meeting of the new scouting season is next Thursday, Sep 11, 7:00 PM at Maple Springs UMC on Reynolda Road.  This is open to ALL registered adult leaders and there are special sessions for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Scouts.  Attending Round Tables is a key aspect of becoming a better informed leader.  Better Informed and Better Trained Leaders historically produce a Better Program for the Scouts.

More information on specific topics will arrive in a future email, but make your plans now to be there!
