District Note: Training / CQU Awards (Friday, February 15, 2008)
TO PIEDMONT DISTRICT SCOUTERS:
At this time of the year, we have a lot of Webelos transitioning into Boy Scouts - which means quite a few Cub Scout parents moving into Boy Scout Leader positions. You/they should get the appropriate Boy Scout Leader training ASAP as it will help the adults as well as the youth tranition successfully. The first training you should get for Boy Scouts is the "New Leaders Essentials," "Boy Scout Position Specific," and "Youth Protection."
"Youth Protection" is available online and the other two classes are being held next weekend at CRK - please plan to be there!
UPCOMING TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:
- District Committee Workshop February 23
- Boy Scout New Leaders Essentials will be conducted February 22 and Boy Scout Position Specific training will be conducted February 23, all at Camp Raven Knob.
- Venture Position Specific training will be conducted February 23 at the council office.
- Cub Scout leader training will be conducted March 29 in Wilkesboro, with New Leader Essentials in the morning and Position Specific in the afternoon. This same training will be available at our Expo April 26.
- Chain Saw Safety will be taught at Camp Raven Knob March 1. (This certification is required for anyone to operate a chain saw at CRK!)

We had over 64% of our units attain Centennial Quality Unit for 2007. The next step is to order your banner and patches! An order form is attached to this email. Just fill out your order and take it to the Council Office. After they verify that your unit did indeed earn the award, take the signed form into the store and make your purchase!
However, this is 2008 and your unit goal sheet for this year is now due. A blank copy is attached to this email. You can fill it out and get it to your Unit Commissioner or take it into the council office yourself and give it to Michael Montgomery or Jean Dominique.
