District Note: Service Hours in April
(Thursday, February 7, 2008)
TO PIEDMONT DISTRICT SCOUTERS: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! April brings two chances to help keep Winston-Salem clean and green and get some service hours! Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful sponsors two major events, both of which will qualify as service hours for your Scouts... The annual Community Roots Day tree planting event will take place Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. This year about 500 trees will be planted in the Maple Street neighborhood south of Hanes Middle School. The first 500 volunteers get free t-shirts and hats and all volunteers get free lunch and seedlings. Volunteers will meet at Blum Park. Come on out and help beautify the community! The annual Great Winston-Salem Cleanup, part of the national Great American Cleanup, will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help clean up local roadways, parks and schools. All supplies are provided as well as lunch. It's a fun way to make a positive impact in the community! To volunteer, call George M. Stilphen or Kittie Mattox at Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful at 727-8013 or send an e-mail to georges@cityofws.org. ===================================
