TO PIEDMONT DISTRICT SCOUTERS: Piedmont District Pinewood Derby On your mark … get set … GO! That’s right, it time again for the Piedmont District Pinewood Derby! Cub Scouts across the Winston Salem area are already finalizing designs and putting on a fresh set of wheels. On March 15, the Piedmont District will be hosting our District Pinewood Derby Race. The site will be at St. Peter’s Center in Winston-Salem (this is the same location as last year). Registration will be from 9 to 9:30 am with RACING BEGINNING AT 10 AM. First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded for SPEED as well as winners for Best Looking Car and Most Original Design. Each Cub Pack may send three cars per den, or a maximum of three cars per 10 boys. Also, the participating boys in the District Race must be present for the whole time while car is racing to participate! Remember that only official BSA Pinewood Derby car kits may be used for this event. Unofficial cars may not race. The Cubmaster of each Pack should provide a list of those participating to Juan Torain at juanvtorain@yahoo.com by the deadline of registration, which is March 10th, 2008. To ask for official rules by email, contact Juan Torain at juanvtorain@yahoo.com. See you at the races! ************ REMINDER: Thusday is our February Round Table meeting at Maple Springs UMC 7:00pm. This monthly meeting is done just for YOU! The programs and sessions are led by other Scout Volunteers and are intended to help each of us become a better Scout Leader. Cub Scout Roundtable: Program will be on "Litter to Glitter" and will provide examples and details on ideas to make something useful from what might be thought of as junk. ALL ADULT LEADERS are encouraged to bring in samples of their work in this area! Boy Scout Roundtable: Program will be on "Trek Safely/Safety" and will be presented by Mac McCormick and his Venture Crew. Venture Scout Roundtable will join the Boy Scout Roundtable this month. SEE YOU THERE!
************ Do you want your unit to be a Centennial Quality Unit this year? The first step is completing a 2008 Unit Goal Sheet. Help will be available during the hour preceeding the Roundtable. If you have not yet completed your form this year, plan to come early and we will help you fill out the form and get it signed.
