Philmont Crew Returns - Our Philmont crew returned safely last night from their Philmont Socut Ranch adventure. We are glad to have you guys back and look forward to hearing about your adventure in the Rocky Mountians.

Many thanks to Doc Washburn for all of his hard work in putting this year's trek together and to Richard DeHeck and Bruce Hodgin for their role as advisers on the trek.

A big thank you to Brookstown United Methodist church for the use of their church bus to transport our crew to and from the Raleigh airport.

Crew 623-I-1 was met in Raleigh on Saturday by Troop 919 leaders Tim Lasley, Jay Harmel, Steve Tucker and Mac McCormick and their families put together a welcome home celebration at the Scout Hut.

CPR Class Reminder - The CPR class is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the training room at Vienna Fire Dept.

If you plan to take a Merit Badge session at summer camp that requires CPR (first aid, lifesaving, etc.), CPR is not taught at camp as part of the Merit Badge session and Mike Warner has made arrangements with a CPR instructor to teach a class for our Troop prior to camp. This is an excellent opportunity to complete this requirement before camp.

This class will be open to Scouts, leaders, committee members and families/friends of Troop 919. The instructor fee is $25 (cash or check) and is due at the beginning of the class.

Drop Mike Warner an e-mail if you have questions.

Summer Camp - We depart for summer camp on Sunday!

We will meet at the Scout Hut on Sunday morning (July 13) at 9:00 a.m. for summer camp check-in, and to load our personal gear/Troop equipment. We will be making our usual stop for lunch at the Golden Corral in Mt. Airy for lunch and plan to arrive at Camp Raven Knob at about 12:30 p.m. to be there in plenty of time for camp check-in at 1:00.

The check-inat the Scout Hut will include a final review of your medical form, perscription meds deposit, emergency contact info re-check, foot locker key/combination check-in and any payment of outstaning camp fees.

When you arrive on Sunday morning, please do not pull up in front of the Scout Hut. Drop your personal gear and park in the WCCC parking lot.

We travel in Class A Uniform and you will need your lunch money available when we stop in Mt. Airy. That means don't pack your lunch money or Class A in your foot locker! The Lunch buffet at the Golden Corral usually costs about $10.

We will return to the Scout Hut on Saturday, July 19 around 11:00 a.m., depending on the time we are able to depart Camp Raven Knob.

If you need a packing reminder, there is a summer camp checklist on our Troop Website. Other important summer camp info was included in an e-mail that was sent on June 29, which can also be found in the news section of the  Troop website.

Wednesday Night Picnic - A final remimber that our Troop family and friends pot-luck picnic and campfire is Wednesday evening. With about 200 guests, we plan to try to start eating about 5:30 p.m.

Parents: If you think you mak not be able to attend the picinic, please let me know at check-in on Sunday.
